Miriam Hyun
Cerebral Care Counselor
ABOUT Miriam Hyun

Miriam Hyun is a wife, mother, and fellow mental health survivor. Though she began her professional life in academia, Miriam has since built a career as a trauma-informed advocate for vulnerable populations. She has served in numerous roles for various anti-human trafficking organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area, and after the birth of her two children, studied and taught early childhood education with a specialization in music and infant brain development. She currently serves as Court Appointed Special Advocate for foster youth in the greater Portland area and joined the Cerebral team in July of 2020.

Miriam has gained extensive experience in mindfulness, meditation, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy both as a professional and as a patient herself. She approaches care counseling as a skilled peer and seeks to connect clients with research-based modalities which clients find both compelling and therapeutic. Miriam has experienced firsthand how difficult it can be to live with mental health complications but has also seen how the difficulties, when cared for, can also serve as a bridge to a deeper life.

When not plumbing life’s depths, Miriam loves to read and listen to all kinds of music, but mostly Mozart, Beethoven, and a little 90's R&B. Her kids are alright, too.
